Former Parliamentarian Joan Purcell is engaging young people in Carriacou and Petite Martinique in a training session focused on building transformational leaders.
The training, coined “Training for Transformation” is organised by the Parliamentary Constituency Office in collaboration with the Division of Youth within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government.
Purcell said the intention is to develop a cohort of young adults who will be empowered to lead in the transformation of their personal lives, families, communities and nation.
Reflecting on a similar programme which was held years ago, she said it had a positive outcome with present Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon Tevin Andrews being a product.
Minister Andrews, giving brief remarks at the commencement of the training, said having benefited from the teachings of Purcell, he will continue to support such capacity-building initiatives.
At the end of the training in October, participants will be involved in a team-building community project.
