Insurance Consultants of Grenada Limited (ICL) has once again provided financial support to the Grenada Arts Council (GAC), for the curation of the Grenada Pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia 2024.

This will be the third time that ICL has contributed to the Grenada Arts Council. The company’s Brand Ambassador Desta John and ICL’s Managing Director Victoria Slinger, presented the cheque on Wednesday, 6 March 2024, to Suelin Low Chew Tung, one of the artists exhibiting in the pavilion. This initiative demonstrates ICL’s commitment to Grenada’s visual arts.

The 60th Venice Biennale is curated by Adriano Pedrosa under the theme “Foreigners Everywhere” including 300 artists from 90 countries exhibiting in their national pavilions. The event runs from 20 April to 24 November 2024.

For over 40 years, ICL has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life, not just for their policyholders, but also for their employees and the communities they serve. Slinger said this contribution to the GAC is a clear indication of ICL’s unwavering commitment to this goal. “I have always been a keen patron of the arts and am particularly attracted to the vibrant colours of much of the work of Caribbean artists,” Slinger said. “I am particularly impressed with much of the work of local artists and want to help bring this to the attention of the wider art world. ICL has also consistently contributed to the Venice Biennale Pavilion since Grenada was first represented in 2015. We are established patrons of the arts in Grenada displaying original art by many local artists in our office on Halifax Street.”

Commissioner of the Grenada Pavilion Susan Mains shared the following about the exhibit: “This is the 7th time Grenada has participated since 2015. Of the 90 countries participating this year, only Cuba and Grenada will represent the Caribbean. Grenada’s exhibition will include Jason deCaires Taylor’s life-sized aluminium sculptures. We think he will make a big impact, of course, pointing back to Grenada and the new figures recently added to the underwater sculpture park. We are proud to be leading the vanguard.”

Receiving the donation, Low Chew Tung thanked ICL for their support. “On behalf of the Grenada Arts Council and the Grenada Pavilion, thank you for continued corporate sponsorship of the visual arts and its artists, allowing us to promote Grenada to the world.”

ICL is also pleased to announce that Desta John has been appointed Brand Ambassador for the company. The newly created role of the Brand Ambassador augments the company’s continued commitment to constant improvement of service to clients. John will focus on client education and site visits, mobile claims response, corporate philanthropy and many other customer-focused initiatives.

John has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry — in claims processing, underwriting, policy servicing, and agency management for property, liability, health, and life insurance. He has been a part of the ICL team for the past 5 years and is a family man with a keen interest in sports and his community. “I am delighted to be part of the ICL team and with my role as Brand Ambassador I look forward to supporting our clients in fulfilment of our company’s motto of “We are on your team” using my years of experience in the insurance industry,” John said.

Insurance Consultants of Grenada Limited, the first and largest insurance brokerage in Grenada has been operating quietly for over 40 years, focusing on excellent customer service and providing our clients with expert insurance advice. “We are on your team” is our motto and we stand with our clients, at no charge, from quotation to placement and from claim to settlement.
