The sport of tennis in Carriacou and Petite Martinique is about to be positively impacted. Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon. Tevin Andrews has announced that one of the major projects for his constituency this year is the construction of a new tennis court adjacent to the Hillsborough Recreation Grounds.
Lauding the efforts of Coach Mario Blaize, son of the late Prime Minister Herbert Blaize, and the performance of tennis players here, Minister Andrews said it is important that they have proper facilities for training and playing. He said the construction will also include bleachers and changing room facilities. This, he added, should lead to the hosting of regional tennis tournaments on the island.
Coach Blaize said this project is really going to improve the overall performance of the players and lead to greater investment in better training equipment. He thanked all those who have been contributing to the development of tennis here over the years.
