Preamble

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Engineer at the National Water and Sewerage Authority (Nawasa), Grenada.

Job Title and Position Summary

The Engineer will be responsible for Planning, Designs, Implementation, and Management of Water Sector Projects and will report to the Manager, Planning and Development Department.

The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare engineering designs and construction documents for the approval of the Planning and Development Manager
  • Conduct site inspections and approval of contractor’s method and quality of work
  • Give technical guidance to Junior Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Technicians and Land Surveyors
  • Prepare payment certificates and variation orders for the approval of the Planning & Development Manager
  • Develop and manage fee proposals and administer consultancy services for selected elements of projects

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • As a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental or Water Resources Engineering, Project and/or procurement management from a recognised institution
  • A Master of Science Degree in Engineering, Management, or Business Administration will be an Asset
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in design, supervision of construction of water sector projects and operations and maintenance of water systems/water utilities
  • Experience in the administration of contracts; quantity surveying/estimating and project costing
  • Experience in the formulation of project schedules, monitoring, and evaluation

Personal Skills/Competencies   

  • Familiar with the use of computers and computer-aided design and Engineering Software Applications (AutoCAD, STAAD, CIVIL 3D, WaterCAD/WaterGEMS, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong leadership, motivational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Should possess a valid “D” Class Drivers’ licence

Remuneration

Remuneration shall be negotiable having due regard to the experience and qualifications of candidates.
