On Tuesday, 29 August 2023, three more students were added to the annual St John’s Educators’ Scholarship Fund (SJESF) programme.
Aiden Cadore of the Grand Roy Government School will be attending Presentation Brothers College; DaQuanna George of St John’s RC School will be attending St Rose Modern Secondary School, and Delvon Samuel of St John’s RC School will be attending St Mark Secondary School.
The students, together with their parents, received their documents which will assist them with their secondary school pursuits. They joined an active list of 2 other students who are in their final year at St John’s Christian Secondary and St Rose Modern Secondary.
In the last academic year, 3 students graduated from the programme and are heading to TAMCC to further their goals.
The students, who were accompanied by their parents/guardians, met with local directors of the fund, Jeanette Du Bois and Arthur Hosten. The programme is supported by its chairman Carnice Modeste who leads a group in New York that actively raises funds to enable this noble venture.
About the SJESF
The annual St John’s Educators’ Scholarship Fund was developed to honour educators from the St John’s parish as well as to provide financial assistance to needy students who have passed the CPEA.
The honoured educators were the cornerstone of our community who served as mentors, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, instilling great values in students and providing them with the necessary tools to become successful. Many are professionals in such fields as doctors, lawyers, scientists, chemists, educators, nurses and entrepreneurs.
Apart from Modeste and her group in NY, the scholarship fund, which was established in 2008, is also supported by people from Grenada, other Caribbean Islands, the general public and through fundraisers primarily organised by the managing philanthropists.
