- EC$416.5 million total revenue collected from January to April
- Total actual expenditure of EC$302.4 million
- EC$5.1 million in grants received
The Government of Grenada received EC$13 million less in grants from local, regional, and international donors than what was targeted for the period January to April 2023 when compared to the same period for the year 2022.
According to the fiscal reports for the period under review, the Government received EC$5.1 million in grants, but the targeted amount was EC$18.1 million. Total Grants in January 2023 amounted to $1.0 million which was $2.3 million less than the target and $4.9 million less than the actual in January 2022. Total Grants in February 2023 amounted to $0.5 million, which was $4.0 million less than the target and $6.0 million less than the actual in February 2022.
Total Grants in March 2023 amounted to $3.3 million, which was $2.2 million less than the target and $97.3 million less than the actual in March 2022. Total Grants in April 2023 amounted to $0.3 million, which was $4.5 million less than the target and $11.2 million less than the actual in April 2022.
While the Government received less in grant funding, it was able to collect more in actual revenue than what was targeted for the period January to April 2023. The targeted amount was EC$346.8 million, but it collected EC$391 million. However, that amount was less than the amount collected for the same period in 2022. The Government’s revenue for January to April 2022 was EC$416.5 million.
Total actual expenditure for the period was EC$302.4 million, which is less than the targeted amount of EC$325.5 million. For the same period in 2022, the actual expenditure was EC$298.7 million. The Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme revenue for the period January to April was EC$78.2 million, which was approximately EC$35 million more than expected.
Ironic that this article is published at the same time as the “Greedflation” article condemning business for raising prices to enhance profits for investors, when the government does exactly the same thing, with no appreciable benefits to taxpayers.
Surely, with so much smoke in the air as to how past Grants were used or not; all of that is backlash for mistrust. Added is the ongoing repeat of coverups by NDC.
With any new administration this will be the case as most donors will be holding back observing the directions of the current administration which is the norm.
Once that initial period is done then it would be easier for all concerned.
