The New National Party (NNP) expresses profound dismay and deep concern over Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell’s recent National Address, which failed to address critical issues that are currently plaguing our nation.
Dr Keith Mitchell, former Prime Minister, Leader of His Majesty’s Opposition, and Political Leader of the New National Party, has expressed as well, his disappointment with the Prime Minister’s lack of focus on pressing matters, specifically the rising cost of living, job losses and the alarming increase in crime rates. NNP believes that immediate attention and decisive action are necessary to tackle these issues that directly impact the well-being of our citizens.
Grenada’s murder rate has already surpassed 2022’s figure, with 6 months remaining in 2023. This concerning fact calls for immediate and proactive measures from the government. The NNP emphasises that the safety and security of our citizens should be the highest priority, particularly considering that Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell also holds the National Security portfolio. It is crucial to implement effective strategies to combat this distressing trend and restore peace and tranquillity to our communities.
Furthermore, skyrocketing food prices are causing significant hardships for the people of our nation.
Families are struggling to make ends meet as the cost of essential goods continues to rise. Former Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell strongly believes that the Government must take concrete steps to alleviate the impact of soaring food prices and ensure that our citizens have access to affordable, nutritious food. This issue requires immediate attention to relieve the burden on households already struggling to cope and promote the overall well-being of our population.
While the Prime Minister’s address was filled with pomp and extravagance, it failed to provide answers to these troubling and pressing issues, especially when our health facilities are lacking essential and critical medications. The NNP reiterates our commitment to the well-being and prosperity of our nation. We call upon Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell and his government to prioritise the critical concerns of the high cost of living, escalating crime rates, lack of basic health services and unemployment. NNP extends our full cooperation and support to find effective and sustainable solutions that will alleviate the burdens faced by our citizens and foster a safer, more prosperous society for all.
NNP is stuck in the rumshop style politics. The very same issues plagued the island during their years in office. Now all of sudden, the sky is falling….
When they had the opportunity to fix it, their use it buy votes. Blaming and pointing fingers are NNP Forte….
The viscous cycle continues.
Keit go die in that house and haunt it so nobody else can live there
Keith Mitchell had his chance. He blew it. Does he sound a little like Trump. It’s not my fault it’s the new guys fault. Maybe the good “ doctor” should practice medicine. His “practicing” politics benefited no one but himself.
NNP be quiet. YOU caused 99% of the problems and issues Grenada has for the past 25 years!!! Learn to co-operate for the best of Grenada not just be ignorant trouble makers.
This is factual but what are the real cause for all the increasing in these vital areas.
I will and most of us will place this blame on the last administration who fails in implementing simple measures to minimise these.
