In an effort to control the Dengue outbreak in some parts of Grenada, the Vector Control Department in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Religious Affairs will intensify its ongoing fogging operations as follows:

The schedule for the week of 23–28 May 2023 is as follows:

  • Thursday, 25 May: Town of Grenville and Environs, 5 pm
  • Friday, 26 May: Soubise and Environs, 5 pm
  • Saturday, 27 May: Carriere, Paraclete, Dunfermline Redmud, Marli, and La Fortune, 5 pm
  • Sunday, 28 May: New Hampshire, Boca, Snug Corner, St Paul’s, Perdmontemps, and Windsor Forest, 5 pm

The current fogging operation is part of a broader strategy to suppress cases of dengue and reduce the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito population.

Health officials are appealing to the public to take all necessary measures to ensure the success of the mosquito suppression exercises. The public is also encouraged to cooperate with the fogging teams by ensuring that homes are opened to allow the fog to enter so that it can kill the mosquitoes.

Importantly, people with respiratory difficulties like asthma are reminded to stay away from the fog or inform the fogging team of their respiratory condition. Beekeepers are also asked to inform the team of any beekeeping activities in the area to be fogged.

The public is also asked to be mindful of the Mosquito Destruction Act of 1952, which states that they (individuals) are required to keep their premises free of the breeding of mosquito larvae, and that failure to do so can result in them being found guilty of an offence. The penalty for this is a fine of $250 on summary conviction in the first instance and $500 for subsequent violations. Please be guided accordingly.

For more information, please contact the Vector Control Department by calling (473) 440-2095.

Are you IDIOTS! The FOG is a POISON!. Windows should be closed, BABIES shouldn’t be exposed to this! You need more than a lousy Facebook notice to INFORM RESIDENTS. Laundry should not be exposed to the fog either. The fogging is an OUTSIDE measure for a reason. Your pets should not be exposed to outside either. You need a program of MANDATORY SCREENING if WINDOWS in ALL homes to prevent mosquitoes getting into homes in the first place. None of this garbage if ” it’s the Caribbean so windows should be open with no screening “. This is a HEALTH issue. Get a subsidy program for screening test will go around the chronically affected areas and help residents screen in their windows.

You also need to IDENTIFY fresh water in these areas that could be treated safely for mosquito larvae as is done in North America.
