The well-received and thought-provoking Lecture Series in celebration of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s 40th Anniversary continues with the Grenada Edition, starting at 7 pm on Wednesday, 31 May 2023, at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort.

Due to limited space at the venue, members of the public are encouraged to join virtually via the ECCB Connects Facebook Page or YouTube Channel.

The ECCB’s 40th Anniversary Lecture Series is being held under the theme The Colourful Economy and will culminate with the ECCB@40 Global Conference taking place at the ECCB Headquarters from 8-10 November 2023.

The highly anticipated Grenadian Edition will feature the following speakers: Chairman of the Grenada Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Committee Richard W Duncan, OBE, who is a retired banker; and Chairman of Antillean Inc., Dr Angus Friday, MD, MBA, who is an international island economy development specialist.  Moderating the night’s lecture will be Brenda Baptiste, a well-known media personality and event host.

The distinguished panel will explore the theme Medical Tourism: Prerequisites and Prospects — Blue, Orange and Green Economies. The medical tourism industry, which consists of regional and international travel for the purpose of receiving healthcare services, forms part of the creative or cultural (orange) economy. The orange economy is a major driver of job creation and economic growth, depending heavily on creativity, intellectual assets and talent.

People decide to engage in medical tourism because the services or procedures they seek or need can be performed outside of their countries at relatively low cost and/or without the delay they would otherwise experience by doing them at home. Medical tourism patients also travel abroad to undergo treatment or procedures that are not available or are not legal in their home countries.

The panellists will explore the intersection of the orange economy with both the blue and green economies, as they discuss the importance of leveraging the intellectual capital and expertise of the people in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union to develop a more sustainable and successful tourism sector.

The blue economy, also known as the sustainable ocean-based economy, involves the sustainable use and preservation of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs. The green economy concentrates on improving human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing ecological damage and environmental threats such as pollution.

The lecture is for everyone – from tourism planners, workers and investors, as well as medical practitioners and tourists alike, to farmers, fishers, and conservationists, and anyone with an interest in developing medical tourism.

The Grenada Edition follows the successful staging on 20 April, 23 March and 28 February 2023 of the St Lucia Edition (Green and Purple Economies), the Antigua and Barbuda Edition (Silver Economy) and the Anguilla Edition (Blue and Green Economies), respectively.

We have all these high profile meetings and seminars on business in Grenada and yet we as a nation fails to establish ourselves as business owners.
Just take a drive around the island and you will observe the people who owns the businesses.
We are happy to have a one hit wonder than a long standing reputation.
We are happy to park our car on the main road open the boot and sell whatever we have but fail to rent a building and have a constant supply of the same .
We invite the Syrian and Indians to sell is what we need but refuse to take the initiative to do it ourselves.
