Over $1 million is being spent on the rehabilitation of the Belair Road by the Government of Grenada through the Public Works Division within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government. Work on the road has just started.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Javan Williams, who was on site to witness the commencement of the work, said this is one of the major capital projects identified in the budget presentation by the Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon. Tevin Andrews who is presently out of State.
PS Williams said the Minister is happy to see the project come to fruition, as this road leads to the Princess Royal Hospital and the community of Belair and surrounding areas. Phase one of the project is being done by contractor Neil Patrice.
Meanwhile, the Public Works Division is about to embark on another road development project, this time, in the Mt Pleasant area.
In addition, improvement work has started on the Hillsborough Recreational Grounds, including the reconstruction of one of the bleachers that will be covered on completion of the work.
