Preamble

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Senior Project Engineer at the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA), Grenada on a short-term contractual basis for 3 years within the Climate-Resilient Water Sector in Grenada (G-CREWS) Project.

Job Title and Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for Project Planning, Designs, Implementation and Management of Water Sector Projects and will report to the Project Manager/ Manager, Planning and Development Department.

The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare engineering designs and construction documents for the approval of the Project Manager
  • Conduct site inspections and approval of Contractor’s method and quality of work
  • Give technical guidance to Junior Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Technicians and Land Surveyors
  • Prepare payment certificates and variation orders for the approval of the Project Manager
  • Develop and manage fee proposals and administer consultancy services of selected elements of the project

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • As a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental or Water Resources Engineering from a recognised institution
  • A Master’s of Science Degree in Engineering, Management or Business Administration will be an asset
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in design, supervision of construction of water sector projects and operations and maintenance of water systems/water utilities
  • Experience in the administration of contracts; quantity surveying/estimating and project costing
  • Experience in formulation of projects schedules, monitoring and evaluation

Personal Skills/Competencies   

  • Familiar with the use of computers and computer-aided design and Engineering Software Applications (AutoCAD, STAAD, CIVIL 3D, WaterCAD/WaterGEMS, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong leadership, motivational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple task simultaneously
  • Should possess a valid “D” Class Drivers’ licence

Remuneration

Remuneration shall be negotiable having due regard to the experience and qualifications of candidates
