Effective 31 July 2021, all visitors arriving in Grenada by air or sea port, must be fully vaccinated.

The change in policy forms part of Government’s ongoing efforts to control the spread of Covid-19 in Grenada.

Under the new guidelines, outside of citizens and residents of Grenada, no one will be allowed to enter the country from 31 July, unless they are fully vaccinated. Citizens and residents of Grenada can return whether vaccinated or unvaccinated.

Outlining the coming change, Health Minister Honourable Nickolas Steele cited alarming statistics from neighboring islands which indicate that Covid-19 cases are increasing. He also noted that the move by Governments to administer the Covid-19 vaccine, has reduced the number of recorded deaths.

Barbados has recorded cases of 3 notable variants of Covid-19; Trinidad and Tobago recorded 937 Covid-related deaths, and the British Virgin Islands recorded over 1,120 positive cases within recent weeks.

According to Minister Steele, while Grenada has effectively managed the pandemic to date, there is no room for complacency. He said, “My brothers and sisters, we are not any different from these neighbouring islands. To date, we have been spared the worst effects of the pandemic based on the restrictive measures implemented, but these have come at a significant cost and inconvenience to us all. We would hope that these restrictions do not continue and we should be looking at further easement, but the threat remains very real all around us.”

The health minister urged Grenadians to get vaccinated as it is their best shot in fighting Covid-19. “Take the vaccine. Inquire with Ministry of Health officials to get more relevant information so you are not misled by disinformation.”

Since the start of the pandemic in Grenada in March last year, the country has recorded 162 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Crazy crazy decision..not thought out at all. Well done Dan..very good comments and I concur. There are no other causes of death now only Covid..Wake up people this is all part of the fear tactic.
This government is failing the people of Grenada with it’s scare tactics and coercion for certain groups to take the dreaded vaccine. Which ad my brother said will not protect you from contracting this virus or from spreading it. This has been around for years and is going nowhere just like the flu.

The joke is, when I made a post about my post being blocked, when I then read my new post I literally just made, my missing post was there with 8 others.
Why did it only show 3 posts when I first checked the article ????

What is very sad Is I believe this newspaper is censoring peoples comments on sensitive subjects that may criticise the government on certain issues.
This is not the first time I have made a post, like today on this announcement at around 14:00 hrs today and this evening there are only 3 posts showing and mine is not there…..why ????

Yes Dan, Now Grenada shamelessly Censor while at the same time pretends to be Free Press.

Many of my own posts are routinely vdeleted but I will keep posting simply to force the Hypocrites to be the Censors they pretend not to be.

Now Grenada would have far more engagement from readers and increse viewership if they have an open exchange of ideas and free discussion.

I learn far more from the ordinary person than these so called Experts and Gate Keepers who shill for the Elites.

Keep posting Dan, force the hypocrites to censor you and not force you censor yourself.

Some people need to wake up and stop some of these ambitious politicians from making these irrational decisions for them . At present, the Grenadian government, is demonstrating much too much fear for COVID, which will be present in societies of the world, like the flu, and too much confidence and emphasis in vaccination. The truth will come to light soon and then COVID too, will be a thing of the past.

  6. Dan says:

Well, why is everybody around the world so obsessed with how many cases the are of Covid, the number of cases is irrelevant . It is only the hospitalisations and deaths that should be of concern.
The cases are rising all over the world but hospitalisations and deaths have been drastically declining in most countries.
By restricting visitors who have not been vaccinated, you are probably excluding half of the word from visiting Grenada and as Mr Steele keeps pointing out how good a job he and the government are doing. Why do we need this restriction, the 7 night quarantine has worked well to stop any spread into the community and still allows everybody to visit if they wish to do the long quarantine. Also there is now a view that the flu vaccine may be effective for Covid as well, so have we all just been conned by governments who panicked and went head first down a huge political rabbit hole and now cant find a way back out of it
We have to accept Covid 19 which is an ever changing virus for the last may be 20 years and is here to stay. The world has to come to a point where we just maybe have to accept we have to live with this virus, just like the flu and get on with life and move forward, or we are stuck with lockdowns, border restrictions etc.for ever ‍♀️.

Dan, the Medical Administration have never had this level of self importance because of the wrongheaded political decisions taken as a response to a Virus that affects just 0.03% of people and have an IFR of 0.14-15….virtually identical to bad influenza.

When all is said and done…..Power corrupts and that leads to the Tyranny we see coming from the Medical establishment who are driven more by a Soviet political mentality, instead of actual Health data and respect for the Individual to choose what is best for their own personal health.

In short people like Steele acts like he is now your father..

Well done, there are millions of people who CANNOT for many different reasons aren’t permitted to take the vaccine. Let’s hope you don’t get sued for discrimination

Wow…I have friends who were willing to come to Grenada. But since this announcement, they have changed their mind. Going elsewhere to spend their money. They are on vacation for the 2 weeks so they don’t see the point. I believe the tourism sector WILL suffer. Grenada IS doing well with the current restrictions in place. Money is being made (quarantine facilities and the tests). About 160ish infections and 1 death has led to this?!
The world was in chaos in 2020 due to coronavirus, but yet survival rate was said to be 99.9%. I can’t understand the logic in having jabbed visitors only. Who by the way can still catch and pass on coronavirus. Maybe the Grenadian government has a money tree somewhere as it is clear they don’t need tourists.

    • Dan says:

I agree, the trouble is all about cases cases cases recorded, not about hospitalisations or deaths.
Globally the death rate is no worse than than the normal rate of global respiratory illnesses.
When you actually get to the true numbers, not what is pushed out by politicians and the media.

Well done??? Really? This will probably be one of the worst regrettable decision this government will ever make. You need the economy to get better and you’re narrowing the gap for entry into the country? This is crazy!
