The Government of Grenada announces that on Monday, 6 April 2020, all shops which sell groceries, grocery stores and supermarkets, will be opened across the tri-island state from 8 am to 5 pm.

Given the State of Emergency designed to protect citizens against the deadly Covid-19, only 1 person per household is allowed to go out to shop, and that person is encouraged to wear a face mask or face covering.

Everyone else is to remain at home, unless he/she is an essential worker.

All individuals shopping must observe the social distancing guideline of maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet away from others.

Any crowding or failure to comply will result in the closure of the grocery store or supermarket.

While nothing was said at 6pm tonight other than blaaah blaaah blaaah , same old same old . Words won’t feed it’s not enough to feed the poor or needy, let alone our elderly neighbors. Honesty and Truth will help.

Anyone who complains and thinks this is “a joke” should see the inside of a New York hospital!!!! People are dying like wildfires here in America. We have a good medical system here and can’t handle it. Can you handle it in a tiny island of Grenada? Why the anger and ignorance? There is proof the quartintine is working! Anyone breaking the order should be arrested. Thank God the PM is putting the people first. No it’s not a tyranny and no it’s not a joke. I dont think people are struggling to feed their family. It’s 1 week! Get over yourself. We have been under quarantine here where I live since March 13 and along way to go.

Good night people of Grenada. I live in Brooklyn New York where people are dying wholesale. They are talking about burying people in the parks here because of lack of capacity in funeral homes. My father lives in Grenada. I go to Grenada to visit about 3 times a year. Please listen and social distance. I have been to Grenada hospital for a buss head it took for hours to be seen. I live in a place that is known around the world for medical care. We are basically on our knees. Grenada can’t deal with this on a massive level. Listen to the government.

Well said…I fully agree. A few weeks of inconvenience can potentially save hundreds/thousands of lives. I can’t imagine that the Grenadian healthcare system is prepared to deal with the devastation we see in the United States. Please learn from our mistakes.

Totally Fn pointless three weeks house arrest and curfew. This Curfew remedy is worse than the Covid disease which 97 percent plus will recover. Heavy handed Tyranny, Placing free people under house arrest and destroying their ability to feed their family. And for what?
Come April 20th most people will still have no immunity from SarsCoVid19.
What’s the solution….. indefinate house arrest until Christmas. The is a big joke.

While I understand the concerns for buying groceries at this time, we have to understand that the people in the supermarkets and shops are putting themselves at risk everytime they are in contact with someone. Y’all need to put yourselves in these workers shoes and understand that these are trying times. Take responsibility and do what you supposed to do to avoid this virus and stay safe.

I do not understand why stores are closing early with so many needing to get needs for their home . This causes packed stores and almost impossible at times to keep social distancing. If stores remained open 24 hours at least grocery stores this will give more time abling less people in store during hours . Some people may prefer to go at night . Irregardless we all will know we could go anytime lessening the odds of the stores over crowding which enables 6ft distancing . We also need to consider our cell phones as germ (Corona) caring items we hold our cell phones up to our faces as we steadily set them down and take them everywhere . They are constantly in our hands and are not things we are known to clean or disinfect.

The restricted shopping days / hours is making things worse as its leading to crowding and long queues (Real Value at 8am this morning the queue was almost at wall street…)
Better to let the shops open daily so that less people would go at the same time…

Hardware stores should be open too so that at least people can work on their home whilst they’re locked down in it…

Sale of alcohol for home consumption only should be allowed as it does help people relax and de-stress

Nickolas Steele doing a good job in my opinion but he should also give regular updates say twice a week just to keep people informed and help reduce rumours and speculation.

The ban on alcohol makes no sense and shopping hours/day limitation does not make no sense as well.
    1. Most of the alcohol is what is need to make hand sanitizers and other thing that is essentials for killing bacteria and what not.
    2. I understand that most people just want to drink, let them. Its their lives, if they are stupid enough to waste it on drinking rather the doing something helpful then let them.
    3. The limitations of shopping hours makes no sense. When stores ends up close and you didn’t make it in time you telling me that the person has to wait a day until. Y’all don’t want them get what they need. What if they dont have any food the past the time. People so coward that they wont even help the person if they came by for a cup ah sugar and y’all go just arrest them for going out on a day when everyone is supposed to be inside.
    4. Time limits go only encourage irritation of waiting in a long line for getting in to get what you need. Crowding because many other place is either full or nearing the closing time… So people will be coming out of the wood works.

This is so true. On Monday, I waited 13 hours in a line to get into a grocery store. 7:30 am and returned home 9:09. Social distancing how???
My body burned, my legs on fire. The woman in front of me passed out. This is ridiculous.

The stores should be allowed to sell alcohol for home consumption. It helps relieve the boredom of lock down.

Instead of alcohol to relieve your boredom, read a Bible. If you don’t have one, find a local church pastor. or a priest to give you one. This will sure wipe away your boredom. Never to return to alcohol again. Try it.
