LYNDON GRANGER – ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT-TATIL LIFE – ANSA McAL GROUP – TRINIDAD

“I feel proud to be a member of the Tatil and Tatil life family who have proven that they care about the safety of their customers and employees.” – Lyndon Granger

As an employee of Tatil Life Assurance Limited, in this time of uncertainty, the company has proven their dedication to customers’ and employees’ safety.

We provide a financial service that is essential to our customers and I feel both lucky and proud to come out and provide these services to our valued customers.

Before the Coronavirus was considered a pandemic, information was circulated via Corporate Communications and weekly meetings with our MDs. Information is still shared regularly.

Tatil and Tatil Life have shown their care and consideration for customers and us as employees in numerous ways. Business as usual but not exactly business as usual. Employees who can work from home are now working from home, reducing the number of people in the building. Those whose physical presence is needed at work are on a rotating shift system. Workers are screened as they enter. Hand sanitizers, Lysol and masks were distributed to each department in the most efficient way possible.

Those are just a few of the essential measures implemented to make us feel protected and help reduce the spread of the virus.

Customers are asked to sanitize and are screened as they enter the building. There’s a limited number of customers allowed in at a time, serviced by reps who are regularly sanitized and who themselves exercise social distancing and ask the same of their customers.

As a proud member of the Tatil and Tatil Life family, we continue to demonstrate that we care about the safety of our customers and employees.

KARL STROUDE – SHIFTMAN AT GRENADA BREWERIES – GRENADA

”Transportation to and from work is provided by the Company, along with proper PPE for transit and to execute our duties.” – Karl Stroude

When I think about how it feels to be working currently, while almost everyone else is at home, I consider myself to be an important member of the company. It is risky to leave my house during this time as I am potentially exposing myself to infection.

However, transportation to and from work is provided by the Company, along with proper PPE for transit and to execute our duties. As a Shiftman, my job is to keep the plant in order by ensuring that utilities are online and running such as electricity, water supply and alcohol circulation for tank cooling. These duties all require a physical presence.

I also assist with fueling trucks to ensure distribution, cropping yeast and ensure remote access is functional for managers and staff to work from home, by providing support to the IT Department. I am happy to assist and welcome the opportunity to learn new things.

I must congratulate the managers of GBL, especially Mr Delano Pasea – Operations Manager, who consistently calls every day to make sure that we are well.

Sometimes, it is very hard to be here by myself with no one to talk to, but I do what I have to do then go home to my family.

CHRIS SEEJAGAT – CARGO SUPERVISOR AT ALSTONS SHIPPING LTD – TRINIDAD

“The Group implemented a number of safety and security measures to ensure our safety.” – Chris Seejagat

My family and I are doing fine, in relation to the current circumstances – all are healthy, and we are grateful for this.

As an essential employee within Alstons Shipping Ltd, we are responsible for ensuring essential cargo arrives into Trinidad and Tobago. This is an important task that is extremely rewarding, as we play an integral role in ensuring that food, cleaning supplies, PPE and medical supplies reach homes and hospitals.

The Group implemented a number of safety and security measures to ensure our safety. I am appreciative of these measures as well as willing to adapt to these processes that are ever-changing and unexpected at this time.

I would like to encourage my colleagues to be grateful for the positions we hold, as many are facing a future without job security. We must also be grateful for the health of our loved ones and colleagues.

TREVOR LEWIS – PORTER AT BRYDEN STOKES LTD – BARBADOS

“I understand that maintaining safety at work and home is still important.” – Trevor Lewis

As an essential worker at Bryden Stokes Limited, I believe that the work speaks for itself. I like that I am being there for others. I understand that maintaining my safety at work and at home is still important. My family and I are trying to remain safe every day.

This calls for a lot of changes, but we will manage. We have the mindset that this is what we have to do and so we just do it. It won’t be smooth sailing, but we will get there.

JEMAR GRIFFITHS – PRODUCTION ENGINEER AT ANSA COATINGS LTD – JAMAICA

“While many prefer to be at home during this pandemic, being an essential employee gives me a sense of contentment and inner peace.” – Jemar Griffiths

I joined ANSA Coatings Jamaica Limited in October 2019 as a Production Engineer. This was an eye-opening experience especially around the production and application of chlorine and sodium hypochlorite (bleach) used in sanitation and purification.

After a few months in my role, along came this pandemic – Coronavirus (Covid-19), a disease whose spread is mainly combatted through proper sanitation.

While many prefer to be at home during this pandemic, being an essential employee gives me a sense of contentment and inner peace, knowing that I am silently contributing to curbing the spread of the virus and ultimately saving lives.

Therefore view my role as contributing to the betterment of society rather than simply producing chlorine and sodium hypochlorite and I am making a positive impact on curbing the spread of this disease.

ALICIA HARRISON – CASHIER AT CONSOLIDATED FINANCE COMPANY LTD – BARBADOS

“It is critical at this time for everyone to maintain high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.” – Alicia Harrison

As an essential worker, I have the privilege of going to work while others may not be so fortunate. I am proud of the protocols implemented by the Government and my workplace to ensure the safety of my colleagues and me.

It is critical at this time for everyone to maintain high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.

On a personal note, my children and I are coping well at home by practising social distancing along with regular washing and sanitizing of hands after touching surfaces and objects. In order to safeguard my family, I believe that everyone must continue to do the same and be extra careful.
