  • JetBlue flight 950 encountered problems shortly after takeoff
  • Returned to tarmac after a loud explosion was heard
  • All passengers and crew are said to be safe

JetBlue Airways flight B6950/JBU950 an Airbus A320-232, departed Maurice Bishop International Airport, Point Salines, Grenada (GND) at 3:41 pm local time today, destined for John F Kennedy International Airport, New York (JFK).

JetBlue flight 950 encountered problems shortly after takeoff from the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) in St George and returned to the tarmac after a loud explosion was heard. All passengers and crews are said to be safe.

The pilot called the tower requesting a first aid emergency within minutes of being airborne.

People in the south of Grenada near the airport heard a loud explosion in the sky, and within minutes the plane was seen returning to the airport. It is reported that one of the engines failed.

The airport emergency protocol was immediately activated for the return of the plane. Wendy Francette–Williams, Chief Executive Officer at Grenada Airports Authority (GAA), has promised to speak with the media after her debriefing session.

Passengers and crew are currently in the departure area of the airport awaiting further instructions. The JetBlue website is showing the Grenada flight as delayed.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly reported that the aircraft released fuel before returning to the airport.

All aircraft have a maximum allowable landing weight above which damage can occur. Not all aircraft have a fuel jettison system. If an aircraft is already below max landing weight it has no need to jettison fuel. The plane landed safely due to correct procedures being followed by a trained flight crew, no divine intervention.
God was invented to satisfy man’s conceit and is a fiction.

Umm a thought, albeit that tjere fully trained professionals pilots on board, and thankfully plane landed safely thian time. Om assume uou are aware.of many planes that unfortinatle were unable to land safely nd therefore crashed. Perhaps upu are that .this time.may have not of been a divine intervention as well as ot.could of.been. I think that.is a pretty closed minded attidute for to conjour up a statement like “God was invented to satisfy the conceit of.man”. Irrespective of Faith Belief like mamy Atheists who don’t.belive in God yet know God exist. They choose.not too. So mu Q to that.os Who intevented God

Planes only dump fuel to lessen the Wright for landing . Jetblue did not have to dump fuel because the flight was not full

      GOD is Love ..
Also those smart people who want play
Engineering game.. Please don’t do that
Let the profusional who train to handle

Domping feule is a important safety measure… The passengers lives is much

If there was a god, the engine would not have failed.
    God is man made.
    Period

So i guess you created yourself and can die and bring yourself back to life. What do you know about keeping it real when you deny your creator. Maybe not today but you gon learn when God teaches you. Instead of looking at the glory of God to bring them back safely you make such an arrogant statement. But then again if they didnt return you would have made the same comment. Smh. How mere man is such a Fool. Give thanks to God for returning them back safely!!!!!!!!!

A320 Cannot dump fuel. It does not have that capability. Media is incompetent.

    Accuracy at its best…..not.

    • Kelvin John says:

I keep realising this new outlet is just sharing their own ideas and not being careful about their reporting.
“It is understood from some guy who was on his cell phone saw the engines and then he saw the pilot dumping fuel.” Garbage and such should not be reported, without due deligence.
This is the kind of porn that drives readers. The exciting breaking news porn.
Keep doing this and lets see how people will eventually break you and you lack of concern for Grenada.

Just so you know the A320 aircraft has no way to dump fuel… it does have that option

    • Michael Fitzpatrick says:

Ya, but it sounds good for the media to be so in the know

    • NOW Grenada says:

Thank you, we have made the correction. That information was reported to us by several sources including from onsite at the airport.

  10. Karen says:

I believe in God , and he is good ! Thank God everyone is safe .
