Hasani Bullen and Jesmond Emmons, both from the sister-isle of Carriacou are amongst 12 Grenadians selected for the 2019/2020 Scholarship by The People’s Republic of China in collaboration with the Government of Grenada.

The scholarship offers Grenadian nationals the opportunity to pursue Undergraduate studies, Master’s programmes and Doctoral programmes in their desired area of study at their university of choice in China.

At a meeting held at the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Minister Kindra Maturine-Stewart, pondered upon the importance of an education and encouraged them to make the best use of it.

She said that the initiative is in ensuring that the development of young boys and girls in Carriacou and Petite Martinique not only in education, but in every aspect are done concurrently with those on mainland Grenada.

Bullen and Emmons will be enrolled at the Shanghai University from September pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the area of Finance and Electrical Engineering respectively.

Both Bullen and Emmons extended gratitude to the Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Kindra Maturine-Stewart, for ensuring that Carriacou was given its fair share in the selection.

They said that on completion of studies, they are hoping to return and contribute towards their country’s human resource.

Am proud to know that I am (hearing) reading so many positive and wonderful things going on there, when or if I am able to return it would be a very strange place that I knew good luck everybody.
