The Carriacou Carnival Committee on Friday kicked off the staging of the island’s largest festival, Carriacou Carnival, for the year 2019 with an official launch held at the Hillsborough Tennis Court.

The 2019 staging of the festival will be celebrated from 28 February to 5 March under the theme: “Craving Music, Explore Tradition, Our Mas, Kayak Mas.”

Chairman of the Carriacou Carnival Committee, Princess Herry John, extended gratitude to all sponsors onboard thus far and noted that the festival in 2019 will seek to elevate all aspects of Carriacou Carnival to another level.

Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Hon. Kindra Maturine-Stewart, in her remarks said that the festival is playing its part in the integration and movement of people across the Caribbean and supports the island’s economy.

She added that government’s pledge for the 2019 staging of the festival amounts to over EC$150,000.

Representatives from title sponsor Digicel and Ministry of Culture also reaffirm the support of their organisation towards Carriacou Carnival.
