Grenlec Debates Quarter Finals Schedule

The quarterfinals of the Grenlec Debates will take place on 23 October 2018 where 8 secondary schools will meet to explore the theme “Litter and Our Environment”.

Following is the match schedule of the Quarter Final round.

QUARTERFINALS SCHEDULE – 2018 GRENLEC DEBATES

1 Presentation Brothers’ College

St Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School

AGAINST

Be it resolved that importers of disposable plastic containers be charged an environmental levy.

2 Grenville Secondary

Vs

Bishop’s College

FOR

 

AGAINST

Be it resolved that the health benefits of Grenada’s ban on styrofoam products outweigh the environmental benefits.
3 St Joseph’s Convent,  St. Geo

Vs

Hillsborough Secondary

FOR

 

AGAINST

Be it resolved that littering is a symptom of a wider social malaise, and cannot be tackled through legislation. Hospitality Centre, National Stadium 23-Oct-18

4 The Anglican High

Vs

Wesley College

FOR

 

AGAINST

Be it resolved that legislation is the only way to tackle the litter problem.

The 4 winners of these matches will move on to the Semi-Final Round carded for Tuesday, 6 November.  The public is invited to view the matches on television via GBN, MTV and GIS.  All matches will also be available on Grenlec’s YouTube Channel.  Viewers are encouraged to show their support for the debaters by voting for their favourite debater on Grenlec’s Facebook page.
