Saturday 18 and Sunday 19, June 2016, proved to be a busy weekend for the new executive at Alliance Française de la Grenade (AF).

The new executive includes Roger Williams AF President ; Ingrid Wiand AF Vice President ; Mathias Dorel AF Treasurer; Ilona Forte–Gilbert, AF Director; Kemoy Sylvester AF Secretary, and Cultural Officers artists Jean Renel Pierre Louis and Suelin Low Chew Tung.

On Saturday evening, Eric de la Moussaye Ambassador of France to the OECS and Barbados, hosted a cocktail for the French community in Grenada. In attendance was Her Excellency Ou Boqian the Chinese Ambassador to Grenada, accompanied by Sun Sen, Director of General Affairs Division. During the cocktail, Ambassador de la Moussaye introduced Mathias Dorel as the new Honorary Consul to France.

The following evening, Alliance Française hosted Kapab dance group and Caress Band at the Fête de la Musique at the Grenada Yacht Club. The event was attended by the Ambassador and Mrs de la Moussaye, and a cross section of the French community. Fête de la Musique was created by French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang and first presented in Paris in 1982. Two caveats are that all concerts must be free to the public, and all performers donate their time for free. The purpose is to promote amateur and professional musicians and to make all genres of music accessible to the public. Fête de la Musique occurs annually in over 120 countries.

The next main event on the calendar is the 2016 Summer Camp for children. For more information and registration please call 440-0984 or email [email protected].
