CIBC FirstCaribbean will close its Grenville branch on 30 July 2015.
CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Country Manager-Southern Eastern Caribbean Islands, Ladesa James-Williams, said the closure of Grenville, one of three branches on mainland Grenada, is part of the bank’s continuing financial repositioning strategy.
Mrs James-Williams said the bank is very cognizant of the market in which it was operating and had to make decisions to ensure the viability of the overall business.
She further noted that of the 5 employees at the Grenville Branch, there will be opportunity for 4 to fill roles at the St George’s and Grand Anse branches to strengthen the teams and improve on client experience. Any staff exit resulting from the closure will be managed in accordance with Bank policy, the Collective Labour Agreement, and local labour laws.
“Our efforts at restructuring are bearing fruit and will ultimately benefit our customers, staff, shareholders and the economies in which we operate, as we are becoming a more efficient and much-improved organization with which to do business,” she added.
Country Manager for Grenada, Nigel Ollivierre, said the bank will formally write to all of its customers informing them of the closure and outlining their banking options. He noted that the main option was for customer accounts to be migrated to the St George’s main branch or to Grand Anse if they preferred.
Mr Ollivierre said the bank also offers a full range of free online banking services including mobile banking and internet banking which can be accessed through the website www.cibcfcib.com
“We recognize that the closure of the Grenville branch will be an inconvenience to some of our customers and we will do all that we can to make the process as easy as possible for them,” Mr Ollivierre added.
