“On behalf of my ministry and all of Grenada, let me congratulate Mr. Budd on his appointment as a FIFA Assistant Referee. Let me also specially congratulate W/PC. Arsha Wellington as a FIFA Female Referee and Ms McIntosh-Edwards as a FIFA Female Assistant Referee” stated the Grenadian minister.

“I am happy to learn of these three individuals’ success and urge them to be the beacon of hope for other Grenadian Match Officials. It is my desire to see many more of our local officials emulate these three individuals and I wish to congratulate the Grenada Football Association on its continued efforts to provide opportunities for our people” said the female Minster. She went on to state that “We in government continue to lend support to sports and wish to encourage many more persons to consider the opportunities afforded in sports.”

The three FIFA Match Officials will now have an opportunity to be the guiding light for others and the Minister wishes to advise them that their appointment is merely the start of a journey that should motivate them to work towards one day being appointed Match Officials at a FIFA Finals Tournaments.

Minister Pierre has recently renewed her commitment to see the development of female football on the island and believes that these appointments will inspire increased women participation in football.
