The two schools which will be defending the championship titles for Intercol 2013 have received financial support from the Grenada Breweries Ltd to assist with preparation for the National Games which will be held on March 20 and 21 2013 at the Grenada National Stadium.

Brand Manager for Maxi Malt, Ms Melinda Telesford, on Tuesday presented two cheques which total EC$7000 to the sports coordinator of both Westerhall Secondary which is defending the boys title and the St Andrew’s Anglican Secondary Schools which is defending the girls title.

Timon Thomas of the WHSS said that money will be used to purchase uniforms for the 2013 intercol team while Lester Blache of the SAASS said that the money will assist in offsetting the cost of staging the school’s annual sports meet as well as assist with the purchase of uniforms for the team.

“We are proud to be part of the schools’ preparation for the Intercol games. We are committed to the development of our young people and sporting activities are definitely one of the ways that can fully develop our young people, and what better way to do it through our Maxi Malt brand,” Telesford said.

The Maxi Malt logo will be displayed on the uniforms of the Intercol teams for the schools during the two days of track and field games. The schools received the donation after a letter was sent from both schools seeking the assistance of the Grenada Breweries Ltd in preparing the Intercol team for the 2013 games.

Both Thomas and Blache said that it will cost each school between EC$25,000 and EC$35,000 to fully prepare the teams and participate in the games.
