At the close of registration on Friday, 17 March 2023, fifty-one primary schools throughout Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique registered their 5th grade participant for the Rotaract Club of Grenada and The Communal Co-operative Credit Union Ltd.’s Annual Spelling Bee Competition.

The participating schools were grouped based on district to ensure as far as possible comparable numbers of participants in each of the 4 Preliminary Rounds of this year’s competition. The group distributions were as follows:

  • Preliminary One: District 4 and District 2 A* to be held on Monday, 17 April 2023
  • Preliminary Two: District 1, District 6, and District 7 to be held on Wednesday, 19 April 2023
  • Preliminary Three: District 3 and District 2 B* to be held on Thursday, 20 April 2023; and
  • Preliminary Four: District 5 to be held on Friday, 21 April 2023

*District 2 was split into 2 groups to assist the efforts to have comparable numbers as far as possible in each competing round.

At the end of each Preliminary Round, the top 5 spellers would advance to the Semi-final round carded for Saturday, 29 April 2023, at the Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS) Auditorium. The Finals will follow immediately after with the top 10 spellers from the Semi-final round.

The Rotaract Club of Grenada and The Communal Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. extend our heartfelt gratitude to each school registered to participate in this year’s competition. We also take this opportunity to invite the general public to support the participating students in the Semi-final and Final Round on Saturday, 29 April 2023, at the Grenada Boys Secondary School Auditorium. The competition buzzes off at 9:30 am.
