‘Christmas at the Point’ holiday lights display – Quarantine Recreational Park

The Rotary Club of Grenada has announced that it received permission to host Christmas at the Point from 4 December 2021 to 15 January 2022.

Christmas at the Point will be held at Quarantine Point Recreational Park which is managed by the Rotary Club of Grenada. The park provides a safe space for activities which serve as a way to relieve stress, get some fresh air, and stay active in support of health and wellness. Once again, Quarantine Point Recreational Park will be magically transformed with holiday lights through a partnership with the Monica Benoit family since 2015.

President of the club Alphonsus Daniel, said “We are delighted that the Club could put on this much-anticipated and needed activity for the benefit of individuals and families who seek a safe outdoor environment for recreation while getting into the Christmas spirit with the surrounding magical lights”.

During the pandemic, the club has been very engaged in supporting the community by providing hampers to families in need. In support of frontline first responders, the club has donated PPE to the Ministry of Health and promoted responsible information about the Covid-19 virus. “Christmas at the Point is a natural step in helping the members of our community cope with the stresses of the pandemic,” said President Alphonsus.

Chairman of the organising committee Richard Strachan, a past president of the club, said that patrons could expect the usual high standards of display lights. “One of the magical installations that our visitors can expect is the lighted entrance tunnel which is perhaps the most photographed display at the Point. Plus, as usual, there will be movies, food, drink, S’mores and some special surprises at Santa’s Grotto.”

This year’s Christmas at the Point will certainly live up to its slogan ‘When the sun sets… the wonder begins.’Christmas at the Point will open on Saturday, 4 December and run every Wednesday to Sunday from 5 pm to 11 pm. To ensure the safety of our patrons, Christmas at the Point will operate under strict Covid-19 protocols. Weekly programmes will be published on the Rotary Club’s social media pages.
