  • Bubble in effect only on days there are cruise ships in port
  • Tourists to use vaccinated water taxi or NTA members to visit beach
  • Tourists will use only services of vaccinated market vendors

The National Taxi Association (NTA) and vaccinated vendors at the Grand Anse Craft & Spice Market Vendors in partnership with the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) have formed a strategic alliance that will result in cruise ship passengers getting to experience the Grand Anse Beach when a ship is in port.

Barry Collymore, Chairman of the GTA said that the initiative is a pilot project aimed at getting cruise ship passengers to enjoy the beach. “As you know it was outside of the bubble at the start of the season but after much discussions, we are at the stage where things have taken in turn for the better.”

Ralph Thomas who is a vendor at the market said all the vaccinated members have come together to form this alliance because they understand the requirements that are being requested by the ships’ operators and agents. “The tourists are vaccinated, and the request is for them to visit and be in places that are served by vaccinated individuals. So right now the majority of vendors are now vaccinated and those who are not vaccinated will not be able to sell on the day that cruise ship passengers are allowed to enjoy the beach.”

“This is the new way as we move forward,” he added.

The bubble will only be in effect on days there are cruise ships in port. The tourist who decides to visit the beach will have to use the water taxi or NTA members who are vaccinated. The tour will last for 3 hours. Once on the beach, the tourist will only use the services of vaccinated members at the markets. These services will range from renting chairs to shopping.

Tourism Minister Clarice Modeste expressed joy that a solution was found, as it is in the best interest of those involved in the tourist sector.

Please read carefully before commenting. Only vaccinated vendors will be allowed to serve the visitors, no mention was made of locals using the beach during those times.

Ok smart woman then why charge locals for not wearing a mask in open public? U r just as blind…. And yes I’m vaccinated…..it’s nothing to do with virus its all about control and what ever sh#t they have up their sleeves…..well said GRENADIAN

how come a vaccinated tourist arriving at the airport can do a rapid test then walk straight out and do what they like whereas the same individual arrives on a cruise ship and can only go out in a bubble??
    Makes no sense to me…
Just rapid test them and let them go where they like.

This is the choice of the CRUISE LINES they are also governed by conditions of sailing that all must be fully vaccinated staff and passengers alike before they were given permission to sail again.

They don’t want a repeat of that covid mess from 2020 and they also don’t have facilities to deal with severe covid cases.

I have no problem buying from UNVACCINATED vendors as long ss all covid protocols are in play. Every day I go to the grocery store and have no idea who is or isn’t vaccinated. I wear a double mask and wash my hands.

I am fully vaccinated but that gives me RESISTANCE to covid NOT IMMUNITY. I must still use common sense and protect myself.

This tiny shops at Grand Anse vendors market are never over crowded anyway. Same as all of 2020 limit to one customer in shop at a time, wearing mask, using sanitizer and we are all good.

The problem arises through ignorant people who won’t even wear a mask.

So let me ask, what happens to non-vaccinated locals… we can’t use the beach when it have “vaccinated” tourist. You’ll better DON’T GO THERE. Since you’ll being ridiculous with this whole thing, build a new island and have it only for vaccinated people…cause obviously we were all here first existing peacefully before this drama. All kinda V vs NV mixing at home, on the bus, in work etc but you’ll full of SH with nonsense about who can’t pick up at airport, who can’t sell. My grandmother always education is not common sense… everyday I live to see that statement is true …. all them “degree” people in power ain’t making no sense. When there was no tourist it was the same local nonvaccinated people keeping the economy alive by patronizing restaurants and doing staycation and we were not spreading. Now Yankee dollar return, all of a sudden these same locals turn dog. Oh how quickly we forget and have gone back to the same way locals were treated at hotels etc…. this time it’s just worst. Remember it was a “Yankee” who brought it in the summer and locals spread it…. let’s see what they bring this winter…. better hope for snow and not covid 2.0

Well the good news is if they bring it , it wont matter / spread far because we are all following the protocols and are vaccinated……………………..oh wait…nevermind ,

Just a note… some Americans are not “Yankees” just ask people from the south. 🙂

True. Southerners are Rednecks, not Yankees.

What do you mean you can’t use the beach if tourists are there?? If you distanced and outside you are NOT a danger to anyone.

This is Grenada’s beaches don’t agree with this if they try to enforce it. What garbage.

Get educated, it is close INDOOR settings that are shown to spread covid. You still need to mask and wash hands and distance same as before.

You make no sense. Educate yourself on how and why Covid spreads. If I recall the first positive case was a returning Grenadian national, way back when. Remember those “Yankees” spend money on your island, feed your kids and elders with that money. Your attitude puts a bad face on the beautiful Grenadians we know, and consider family. By the way are you vaccinated ‘Grenadian’?
