Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Dr Keith Mitchell, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Finance, Timothy Antoine, will leave for Washington DC next week to attend meetings from 9 to 12 April, with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“Those meetings are to look at the development agenda for Grenada and for the region as a whole,” said Agriculture Minister Roland Bhola, who provided this information at Tuesday’s post Cabinet news conference. “In particular, both financial institutions will be discussing taking to their Boards some time in May, the issue of the monies that we are expecting to flow to us in this country as a result of the implementation of the Structural Adjustment Programme.”
Grenada is to draw down US$21.9 million for development purposes as a result of an agreement with the IMF. The agreement will also see the government draw down on at least US$100 million in grants and soft loans from the World Bank and the European Union, as well as the Caribbean Development Bank.
