With the opening of Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport on 15 July, as part of the Government of Grenada’s phased strategy to restart the destination’s tourism industry, Air Canada will resume scheduled service to the tri-island nation of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique on 10 August.

Canada is included in the Medium Risk Countries due to active but manageable transmission, however, visitors travelling from these destinations are still required to agree to, and observe, mandatory protocols prior to booking, and on arrival to the island.

“This is a huge step for Pure Grenada, as we continue to observe a measured approach to reopening the destination to international travellers,” commented Patricia Maher, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA). “As one of our key source markets, we are pleased to know that we will be able to welcome back visitors from Canada. While we are happy to have visitors explore our vibrant culture and immersive activities, we encourage all travellers to be mindful and ensure they adhere to the current advisories implemented to ensure their health and safety while visiting Pure Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean.”

There are opportunities to explore, relax and unwind on Pure Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean. With diverse offerings such as culinary, soft adventure, romance, leisure, and sailing experiences targeting a varied audience including solo travellers, couples and families, travellers can easily tailor their trip based on their passion or to satisfy their curiosity.

Air Canada’s weekly scheduled flight will operate on Mondays, utilising the carrier’s main line as opposed to the Rouge that was used in the past. The flight will depart Toronto Pearson International Airport at 9 am and arrive at Maurice Bishop International Airport at 2:05 pm. The return flight leaves Grenada at 3 pm and arrives in Toronto at 8:25 pm.

I really dont get this, why cant keith just try to get all Grenadian nationals home and close the country to none essential travel. I have my tickets and hotel booked to come to Grenada in November but i will be cancelling my hotel and rebook my tickets to somewhere where i dont have to self isolate. If flights are not allowed into the country people will be able to get a refund on their flights and can book for a better time saving them and their family money.
I rather spend my money in Europe on an all inclusive holiday 1/3 of the price compared to coming Grenada

Grenadians, you don’t need to worry, the only people who will be coming into Grenada will be returning residents…….they have need to get back home.
The entry requirements as I understand them, even for OECS locals, this even has a risk, if you test positive on a rapid you have to do 24/48 hrs of state quarantine and do a PCR, with a risk of 14 days in state quarantine.
If you are from the Amber zone countries, I can not see anybody flying for 8-10 hours, then they have to go into approved quarantine for 48 hrs, even with a negative rapid test, to then have a PCR test, again with a possible risk of 14 days, state quarantine at you expense…..why would you bother.
Even if they clear all of this, they are forced to pay to stay in very limited, reasonably expensive approved only local accommodation.
So they can not stay with friends or families, is the rules continue, we are not told how long they will remain……some people who when they realise what the rules mean, will risk loosing their airfares and accommodation deposits, if they choose to cancel.
I understand we need to try to control importing Covid, but this system basically seems to me to create a very negative tourist environment…..our airport may be open, but who is coming to spend their dollar in Grenada, very few people, I suspect.
My daughter is booked to come and visit me at the end of November from England, but these rules means she can not stay with me, so she would have to pay to stay in reasonably pricey approved accommodation that se cant afford, so she will not be able to come and probably loose her ticket money from BA, as her flight may still depart the UK, as it would be allowed to.
RED zone country, automatic 14 day quarantine, unless you are quite well off and intend to stay for a month or two, why would you even bother.

travellers guidelines are on the Pure Grenada website and on the governments web site at http://www.covid19.gov.gd but keep checking as they are prone to change

Grenada needs tourists even if most are from the diaspora communities in England, Canada, & America.

In my opinion Grenadians who want to come home have a right to come home just as much as we do, who are already here thx God, what if it was one of us out there stranded for months in someone home and maybe struggling to survive in some cases? Once the Government puts the right measures in place they have to make an effort for their citizens etc.
The Government seems to be taking precautions as much as possible but no country will ever do everything 100% perfect. We should bare in mind that we also have to start living again and find ways to create revenue for our country if we dont there will be another layer of economic difficulty and hardship when jobs continue to disapear and businesses continue to close. I agree we are too dependant on tourism as a nation but we already “boiling in the pot” so best we finish and try to do what we can to learn from this experience and make the necessary changes and efforts to move forward.

Americans is very very unstable. They dont commply.lookat the way they behave during this deadly times. The Grenada Government is wise, and they’re making wise decisions. Blame the American Government. The Government of Grenada worked very hatd to maintained thrir little island. They don’t want to risk it. Sorry Grenadians living in this Unstable America. Be patient and pray that good things will work out for you to come home..

Parts of the US are ‘unstable’ – states like NY, NJ and CT which send Grenada a lot of medical students have less than 1 % positivity rates for Covid – 30-40% of the Grenadian economy comes from SGU. Somehow we need to look at these numbers and allow safe travel back to Grenada. Hopefully after Nov 3 we should get better news form the US.

This article is all about tourism. As this heartless regime have shown they are not concerned about Grenadians. There are hundreds of Grenadians stranded in New York due to no fault of theirs but this government is looking for tourist but stop fooling yourself foreign tourist are not coming.
You are wasting your energy with Pure Grenada when you just tell the whole world that you are planning to impose an indefinite State of Emergency.

Canada is only accepting citizens. Residents etc no visitors or tourist as yet. But grenada not even trying to get their nationals back only thinking of tourism what’s wrong with this picture r we that stupid why leave your people in another’s mans country to suffer the government doesn’t care about and for its nationals .we are grenadians that being out since march unable to pay for chartered flights etc because they already booked with jetblue for a long time waiting to get home .Now even doing the test no guarantee on getting results in time come on Mr prime Minister bring your people home quarantine for 14days whatever then do the test Get them home.

The story states ” visitors must adhere to the current advisories” yet nowhere are the Med Risk Entry Protocols being imposed. Why is the story not fully forthcoming.
