The Ministry of Health on Friday night (31 January 2020), took decisive action and ordered the quarantine of a Grenadian national who returned to the island from mainland China.

The individual met with health officials who carried out an interview, and on completion, was placed at a quarantine facility as per Grenada’s response protocol.

Health Minister, Hon. Nickolas Steele, who was present at the time and monitored the process, told the GIS, “We are taking such measures out of an abundance of caution, and as such the individual will remain quarantined for the mandatory 14 days, during which he will be constantly monitored.”

Chinese nationals who became Grenadian citizens through CBI can come into Grenada BUT those born Grenadians in China is abandoned and cannot come home because no arrangement is been made for them to get out of CHINA? WOW ☹️ Thanks Mr Mitchell for nothing, sometimes in life we are tested and you just failed your people.

Every comment I put you are removing it, are you representing one person or the different opinions of many people.
Again the black leadership in the Caribbean and Africa are the only ones not evacuating their people from China and again I said the price was probably right, the people of Grenada have to know that their government is not making an effort to remove the Grenadians from there

There is not much information here to fully comprehend the danger. Transparency must be embarked upon to keep nationals safe and avoiding panic. The Corona virus has reached global epidemic proportion necessitating that countries within the Caribbean come together and develop strategies to reduce the spread within the Caribbean. Grenada healthcare system is not as strong as it should be so I pray we are putting preventative measures in place. Since person-to-person transmission has been confirmed, all persons this national came in contact with should be quarantined as well. This is not a time for criticism but a time for unity and collaboration to avoid catastrophic outcomes. I also suggest town hall meetings and public education to keep our citizens safe, and intentionally engaged in safety strategies. As a nation, we are all responsible for ensuring positive outcomes.

We acted extremely irresponsibly letting 8 Chinese into Grenada – given the onslaught of the Corona virus. Unfortunately nothing can be done “after the fact” about that. Failure to act now would be catastropic: it would adversely affect our biggest income earner – the medical school. It would affect tourism, it would affect intra-regional interactions. The fact that we are now not allowing “non-nationals” in is a farcial policy: many Chinese are now nationals of Grenada through the CBI. We need a zero tolerance policy instead. But I don’t think that is coming anytime soon.

What about the rest of the passengers near this person?

Its get worse..An individual return from China. What was the region?. Was he/she the only passenger on that mode of transport? Was he/she immediately isolated on arrival at the port of destination?

What I am missing here if the person had symptoms of the virus or has he/she just been quarantined because he/she came from China ?
And also does Grenada have the possibility to test for the virus ?
Important information that is missing here.
