On 26 April 2019, Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Hon. Peter David of Grenada, who was in Beijing attending the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Wang Yi said that China and Grenada have always supported each other in matters involving their core interests and major concerns. China appreciates Grenada’s adherence to the one-China principle and is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Grenada and strengthen coordination and cooperation in international affairs. China welcomes Grenada to join the Belt and Road Initiative family and believes that this will inject momentum into the development and construction of Grenada and bring more fruits for China-Grenada relations. China is willing to strengthen complementarity between the Belt and Road Initiative and the 2030 National Strategic Plan to achieve sharing opportunities and complement each other’s advantages and better benefit our two peoples.
Peter David said that after resumption of diplomatic relations, Grenada-China relations have developed smoothly. Grenada thanks China for its strong support and assistance to Grenada and appreciated China’s impartiality in maintaining international affairs and peace keeping. The Grenadian side will continue to adhere to the one-China principle, actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and deepen practical cooperation with China in all fields.
