  • Storyboards illustrate cultural history of some major tourist sites
  • Initiative is a major component of Cruise Guest Experience Consultancy

Eight interpretative storyboards installed at the Melville Street Cruise Terminal shed light on some of Grenada’s major tourist attractions and will allow cruise guests to have the opportunity to learn more about the island so that they can make a more informed decision on how to explore.

These storyboards designed with natural wood finishing illustrates the cultural history of some of Grenada’s major tourist sites and can be easily seen as visitors disembark the cruise ships. The themes include Pure Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean, Traditional Markets, the Town of St. George and Fort George, Grand Etang Forest Reserve, ‘Tree To Bar’ Chocolates, Agri-Tourism Estates, Pure Grenada’s Award Winning Rums, and Beaches and Protected Areas.

The blessing of these storyboards by F. Charles Dominique, parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima Catholic Church, St Pauls, took place on Thursday, 28 February.

This initiative is a major component of the Cruise Guest Experience Consultancy, a public-private sector partnership. In 2017, following a visit by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) President and senior executives from Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, Grenada’s Minister for Tourism Hon. Clarice Modeste-Curwen commissioned the project to improve cruise guest experience and cruise visitor volume.

Nautical Development Manager of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) Nikoyan Roberts said the completion of this project is an excellent example of the synergy that can be successfully achieved through public-private sector partnership.

“At the core of today’s cruise guest experience is heartfelt thanksgiving and we want to give thanks to the commitment and strategic work these public and private sector teams who have completed the installation of 8 Pure Grenada Spice of the Caribbean storyboards.”

Minister Modeste-Curwen was particularly pleased that Grenada is moving ahead to ensure that Grenada remains a prime tourist destination. “The storyboards integrate our fine, quality product offerings into the view and attention of global cruise guests. The financial partnership that all of our partners gave to us, we cannot thank you enough. I think this is a wonderful example of a public-private sector partnership and we have excelled at that.”
