  • Queenette Johnson has been released to her family for burial
  • Autopsy revealed Johnson died from asphyxiation sometime between 19-20 October

Queenette Johnson of Belle Vue St George has been released to her family for burial. The 16-year-old was found last Thursday, 25 October in Charlotte Vale, St David.

On Monday, 20-year-old Randy John, a construction worker of Epping Forest St David was charged with capital murder in connection with her death.

Despite her grief, Joy Johnson expressed gratitude to the police for their quick response in apprehending the suspect of her daughter’s death. “I am satisfied with the charge, and on behalf of the family I would like to thank the police officers that went out and investigated the matter and for their quick discovery of everything they got, and I trust and pray to God that we receive justice.”

She said the past few days have not been easy for the Johnson family, as they prepare for the funeral. “I depend on the Lord for strength to endure, because this is not nice to have to bury my daughter who died in that manner.”

The teenager was last seen on Thursday 18 October, when she left the house to visit relatives in Dafu Springs, following a dispute with her sister. Johnson stated it was not an unusual practice for her daughter to stay by her sister in Dafu, so the family did not see the need to file a missing person report. “I came home from work and met Queenette lying on my bed. She had a falling out with her sister, and I was tired, so I quarrelled with both of them, and then Queenette went to bathe, and she told me she would visit her favourite sister in Dafu.”

An official report from the autopsy conducted on Sunday revealed that Johnson died as a result of asphyxiation. She is believed to have died between 19-20 October.
