The Grenada National Council for the Disabled (GNCD), is pleased to announce the approval for funding of the “Energy from Waste for the Community of Persons with Disabilities” project from GEF SGP Grenada.
The primary objectives of the project include:
- To install the digester, storage units, connections, burners and associated paraphernalia
- Determining the protocols for the Warranty-determined running in period
- Production of gas for on-site consumption and sale.
The project was launched on 1 March 2018 at the Victoria School for Special Education in Victoria, St Mark. Present at the launch were Simone Lewis, GEF SGP Grenada; Lennard St Bernard, Grenada Bureau of Standards; Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation & Culture Dr Claris Modeste; David Boatswain, Ministry of Education, District Education Officer for St Mark and St John, and Chairperson Hillary Gabriel among other specially invited guests.
The council is extremely pleased to be the recipient of such an important grant funded project. As part of the agreement, at least 3 persons per site trained in the appropriate feeding and management of the digester. The digesters will be installed at the following locations: The School for Special Education in the Limes, the Victoria School for Special Education and the Dorothy Hopkin Centre for the Disabled in Tempe.
