28 June 2013 marks the return of a showcase of the explosion of Grenadian innovation and rousing literary talent that has been stirring over the last few years; the return of VOICES!

The Voices series debuted on August 2012 as the brainchild of Carlene Perryman, teacher at the St. David’s Catholic Secondary School and Public Relations Officer of the Writers Association of Grenada. The show, dedicated to highlighting the bevy of psycho-social & economical challenges faced by Grenadian Youth, created waves among the cultural community and featured a blend of poetry and various creative art forms centred on the theme, the cry of the youth.

Voices II — Voices of the Daring Youth will see a return of this collaborative design, this time to challenge and provoke the youth and all within earshot to rise up, move forward and take charge of the future before them despite the testing circumstances they’ve witnessed or undergone. Voices II will be produced under the auspices of the Writers Association of Grenada with assistance from local establishments. Among the confirmed supporters of this year’s show are Chelsea’s Parlour next to Sendall Tunnel and Yum Yum Cafe in the Spiceland Mall.

This year’s show features poetic pageantry and provoking stage play from seasoned poets: The Wordy Phoenix, Josiah “Prodigy” Bayne, Alissa McBurnie & Cemal Copland alongside explosive newcomers Equity (Damarlie Antoine), MeMe Jones, Renee Plenty, Carlene Perryman, Wendell Simmons & more. Flavoured with special appearances & performances from awe inspiring Grenadian artists, emerging rapper MBYS, & Jazz & Poetry saxophonist Algernon Belfon, Voices of the Daring Youth is carded to be a must-see Grenadian attraction.

Riveting and soulful jazz, rhythmic and pulsing drums, graceful dance, mesmerising artwork and powerful, provoking poetry descend on Marryshow Folk Theatre, 6:00pm on Friday 28 June ; A collage of culture, a crafted tapestry that will be emblazoned in your memory from that night onwards. Where will you be when this one occurs?
