On Friday, 19 August, 133 students across the tri-island state were recipients of the GUT Credit Union CPEA Grant. Each student received EC$250 toward back to school expenses, as well as $50 toward starting a Smart Saver Account.
Florina Thomas, Chair of the Credit Union’s Education Committee, which is responsible for the grant, encouraged parents to remain active in their children’s lives as they entered secondary school. She emphasized the GUTCU’s commitment to the community in which it operates and to enhancing the well-being of members.
The GUT Credit Union’s CPEA Grant programme has been in operation for over a decade and has impacted approximately 1000 students. As a financial institution that was created by teachers, the GUTCU has heavily invested in nurturing the educational pursuits of Grenada’s youth through its CPEA and TAMCC Scholarship programme, as well as its financial programmes.
