Last Friday, just in time for the beginning of the new school year, Foodland Supermarket held the Prize Giving Ceremony for its Back to School promotion.

The promotion, which began on 14 August, received hundreds of entries from both customers and staff. Two separate draws were conducted for the customer boxes and staff boxes, each in the presence of an auditor. Participants simply had to write their names, contact numbers and the name of a student on the back of a Foodland receipt of any value in order to have a valid entry.

The timely initiative provided prizes for almost 20 children and their families. Based on the broad smiles on the faces of the kids and the glow of gratitude on those of their happy parents/guardians, it was clear that the promotion was indeed very timely and very well received.

The splendid prizes included a tablet computer, an assortment of gift vouchers for school supplies, well-stocked hampers, a free computer training course, and even a sandwich maker.

According to Mahera Strachan, one of the Marketing Officers for Foodland Supermarkets, “it was the vision of the Supermarkets Division of Geo. F. Huggins & Co. (G’da) Ltd. to give back in a tangible way to families and assist with back to school preparation. The substantial contribution of prizes from a number of generous business places helped to make the dream a wonderful reality!”

The sponsors included Hankey’s Computer Services Ltd., Innovative Computer Café, Courts, Bargain House, Standard Book Shop, Cathwills Stationery, Bryden & Minors, and Huggins Pharmaceuticals Division.

Education is a shared commitment between motivated students, dedicated teachers and supportive parents. We wish the Nation’s students a blessed and successful school year.
