Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (GRENLEC) is pleased to announce the signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Company and the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union.
The Agreement, signed on 2 February, covers the period 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2017.
Collin Cover, GRENLEC’s General Manager, says the Company is satisfied that all outstanding matters have been resolved, allowing the negotiations to conclude amicably. “While these negotiations have been set against a backdrop of a very difficult economic period coupled with stagnant load growth and other changes in the energy sector, we are pleased to be at the end of this process.
“Our employees are important to us and, therefore, settling these outstanding matters was a priority and allows the GRENLEC team to continue on its mission of providing affordable and reliable services to the public.”
Among the many provisions governing employer and employee responsibilities, the Agreement includes a 12 percent salary increase for employees spread over the 6 year duration of the contract comprising a 2.5 percent increase for each of the first 4 years and one percent each in the final two years.
Mr Cover expressed appreciation to GRENLEC’s employees, shop stewards and GTAWU for their part in finalising the Agreement after the lengthy process. “We look forward to continuing to build a productive and collaborative relationship with all our employees, the Union and other stakeholders, as we continually strive to meet the requirements of our business together.”
