PRIVATE RESIDENCE
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

At Jumby Bay Island it is our responsibility to understand and work to meet the needs of our stakeholders — the Homeowners, Island Guests and each other. Our service levels and our global reputation are defined by each of us – individually and collectively — in every action we take.   Our operating philosophy is to offer world-class service in a fashion that is welcoming, gracious and unobtrusive.

EMPLOYER: Private Ownership/Management Company
REPORTS TO: Homeowner and Property Manager

We are currently looking for a suitable and qualified candidate for the following position:

ESTATE HOUSE GARDENER

About the Role

We are seeking an Estate Home Gardener to uphold ultra-luxury standards across expansive gardens, lawns, pathways, hardscapes, and beachfront surrounding a large private estate residence (8–12 bedrooms) within a premier resort rental program. This hands-on role blends expert horticulture with meticulous groundskeeping, light exterior maintenance support, and close collaboration with housekeeping and engineering teams to ensure a consistently guest-ready, photo-perfect environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Grounds & Landscape Excellence: Mow, edge, trim, prune, deadhead, feed, mulch, aerate, and manage seasonal color; monitor plant health, soil conditions, and irrigation; identify and remediate pests/diseases using best-practice, environmentally responsible methods.
  • Pathways & Hardscape: Keep paths, steps, and driveways pristine with sweeping/blowing, power washing, weed control, and moss/mildew removal; maintain clear and elegant sightlines from terraces, pool decks, and primary approaches.
  • Beachfront & Exterior Presentation: Groom beach and coastal margins (raking, debris/sargassum removal) and maintain exterior living areas—patios, pergolas, outdoor showers, grills, fire features—ensuring safe, flawless presentation.
  • Irrigation & Water Management: Operate and fine-tune irrigation by zone and season; repair/replace lines, heads, and valves; apply water-wise practices suited to coastal/island climates.
  • Equipment Care: Maintain and service mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge cutters, and hand tools; perform routine lubrication, blade sharpening, and filter changes; keep storage areas tidy and compliant.
  • Light Exterior Maintenance Support: Clear gutters, remove cobwebs, clean exterior glass at ground level, perform spot-paint touch-ups, and care for outdoor furniture; support basic garden lighting and minor fixtures as competent.
  • Guest-Ready Operations: Align daily routines to arrivals/departures and peak rental periods; conduct dawn sweeps and continuous touch-ups to maintain five-star curb appeal and ambience.
  • Collaboration & Events: Coordinate with housekeeping and engineering; support special setups (e.g., event lawns, floral cuttings, herb baskets) and seasonal transitions, including storm readiness and cleanup.
  • Safety, Compliance & Stewardship: Adhere to health/safety procedures, PPE, and chemical handling standards; practice green waste segregation, composting, and environmental stewardship in line with island guidelines.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of professional gardening/groundskeeping in luxury residential, estate, or resort settings; coastal/island horticulture experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of tropical ornamentals, turf care, pruning, soil health, pest/disease identification, and irrigation systems.
  • Proficiency with grounds equipment and hand tools; basic mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance.
  • Team-oriented communicator with high attention to detail, discretion, and guest-first mindset; collaborates smoothly with housekeeping and engineering.
  • Legally authorised to work in Antigua & Barbuda; valid driver’s license.

Core Competencies

  • Impeccable presentation standards and pride in workmanship.
  • Proactive, organised, and reliable; calm under changing weather and guest schedules.
  • Safety-focused, environmentally responsible, and discreet.
  • Physically fit for outdoor work in tropical conditions; able to lift 25–30 kg and perform extended tasks.

Availability and Professional Standards

  • Full-time with flexibility for early mornings, weekends, holidays, and weather events aligned to arrivals/departures and island operations.
  • Exemplary attendance and punctuality; reliably meets scheduled start times and shift commitments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience in luxury environments. Benefits package aligned with experience and local market norms.

Closing date for receipt of applications 21 June 2026. Please submit your resume and a cover letter to [email protected] with the “Subject” Estate House Gardener. Only suitable applications will be considered and acknowledged.
