Team Leadership Support: support the Director of Security with preparing fortnightly schedules, payroll support, performance management, and training and development to enhance team capabilities and support operations.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management: assist the Director of Security to ensure operations comply with local maritime laws and regulations, environmental guidelines and internal policies to mitigate against risks.

Emergency Response: act as a crucial link between the vessel and shore-based management, emergency services and regulatory bodies in response to maritime incidents. Lead the investigation into accidents and/or injuries involving marine vessels with the support of the security department.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role or managing a commercial ferry operation
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Valid Boat Master’s license — level 2 is preferred
  • Good understanding maritime operations, safety management and risk assessment
  • Good knowledge of Caribbean and Antiguan waterways and conditions
  • Experience managing a department with at least 20 employees
  • Demonstrated advanced-level computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Experience managing in a unionised environment preferred

Essential Competencies:

  • Good coaching and people management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Crisis management and problem-solving abilities
  • Good self-management and ability to set and complete deliverables independently

Other:

  • Legally authorised to work in Antigua and Barbuda
  • Flexibility with respect to the on-call nature of the role to provide 24/7 support for emergencies
  • 20/20 vision (with corrective lenses if required); able to identify red and green colours

What we offer
