Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell will be leading Grenada’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which opened earlier on 9 September 2025 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Press Secretary Neila Ettienne has not disclosed the other people included in Grenada’s delegation, although traditionally, the Foreign Affairs Minister is also in the delegation.
Taking place under the theme “Better together: 80 years and more for Peace, Development and Human Rights,” the 80th session comes at a pivotal moment to renew global commitment to multilateralism, solidarity and shared action for people and planet, said an overview on the UNGA website.
This year’s high-level week highlights the urgency of delivering on the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals and reinvigorating global cooperation. The General Debate will be held on 23, 27 and 29 September in the General Assembly Hall. At the annual meeting, Heads of State and Government will make statements outlining their positions and priorities in the context of complex and interconnected global challenges. Prime Minister Mitchell addressed the General Debate in 2022, 2023 and 2024, while the Foreign Affairs Minister engaged in bilateral and other discussions.
There are other activities scheduled during the same period of the session, including the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, and the High-Level Meeting on the 30th Anniversary of the 4th World Conference on Women on 22 September.
There will also be the Climate Summit and the First Biennial Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Global Economy: Implementing Commitments on Financing Development.
