The Grenada Football Association (GFA) successfully hosted its Commercialisation Symposium on Saturday, 28 June, bringing together representatives from 36 clubs across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

The symposium forms part of the GFA’s strategic efforts to modernise football administration and equip its affiliates with practical tools to build sustainable, revenue-generating models.

Held under the leadership of GFA President Marlon Glean, the event focused on core themes such as corporate sponsorship, digital fan engagement, and commercial positioning, vital areas for club growth in today’s competitive football landscape. “This symposium is a key step in empowering our clubs to see football not just as sport, but as a viable business opportunity,” said President Glean. “Sport is a billion-dollar global industry. With the right tools and mindset, our clubs can evolve into commercially successful organisations.”

The symposium featured international experts with proven success in football marketing. Among them was Markus Bartosch, a senior marketing consultant with experience securing sponsorship for the German national team. His session highlighted how clubs, regardless of size, can adopt professional frameworks to attract investment and raise their commercial profiles.

Another standout speaker was Tanya Lee Perkins, Sponsorship Ambassador for the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and Head of Leep Marketing. With over 20 years of experience across football, motorsports, track and field, and broadcast, Perkins offered tested strategies for securing corporate partnerships and creating compelling sponsorship packages. She also drew from her work with the Reggae Boyz’ Road to 2026 campaign and @TeamJamaica’s Olympic and World Championship media properties. “There is untapped value in every club in the stories they tell, the communities they serve, and the passion they generate,” said Perkins. “Sponsorship isn’t just for the big leagues. It’s about knowing your assets, packaging them strategically, and offering brands a reason to connect with your story.”

The GFA Commercialisation Symposium underscores the Association’s broader commitment to transforming local football through innovation, capacity building, and international collaboration. With ongoing initiatives including over EC$774,000 in club support, expanded youth competitions, and institutional partnerships, the GFA continues to position Grenada as a progressive force in regional football development.
