The Government of Grenada proudly announces the completion of the China-aided renovation project of the Grenada National Cricket Stadium, a transformative project that reaffirms the nation’s commitment to sports development, international cooperation, and national pride.

The renovation, which commenced in February 2024, was made possible through a generous grant of US$12 million from the Government of the People’s Republic of China. Executed by Shanghai Baoye Group Co., Ltd., the project included comprehensive upgrades to the stadium’s infrastructure, ensuring it meets the highest international standards for hosting world-class cricket events.

This much-needed renovation reflects our ongoing investment in sports as a driver of national pride, youth development, sports tourism and economic growth.

Key improvements include:

  1. Structural repairs to the steel stands
  2. Replacement of roof tiles and waterproofing
  3. Installation of new seating
  4. Painting of interior and exterior walls
  5. Upgraded monitoring, fire safety, and public address systems
  6. Modernised electronic scoreboard and replay system
  7. Enhanced internet and Wi-Fi connectivity

Prime Minister Honourable Dickon Mitchell emphasised the significance of the project, stating: “This renovation is more than a construction project — it is a symbol of our enduring friendship with the People’s Republic of China. It reflects our shared values of trust, solidarity, and sustainable development. Grenada fully supports the One China principle, and we are proud of the collaboration that has brought this vision to life.”

The stadium, which famously hosted matches during the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, is now poised to welcome fans and players for the upcoming Test Match between the West Indies and Australia from 3–7 July, 2025.

The renovation of the cricket stadium holds great significance for Grenada. It represents a vital investment in the development of local sports, providing a modern facility where Grenadian athletes can hone their skills and pursue their dreams.

Beyond cricket, the upgraded facility is expected to boost sports tourism, youth development, and economic growth, while serving as a vibrant symbol of Grenada’s progress and potential.

The Republic of China would be a better true friend than the mainland government if the current administration would allow diversity. The debt owed to mainland communist China continues to add up and one day soon, the debt must be paid!

It is a fool that trusts China. They have a plan and will slowly take over Grenada declaring it Chinada.
