15 April 2025 marked the official launch of Elevate Her, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women and girls through career mentorship, skills training and development, and leadership.

The launch event was held at the Deluxe Cinema in St Andrew, drawing a full house of participants, supporters, dignitaries, and community leaders.

The Elevate Her programme, designed to foster personal and professional growth among young women across the tri-island state, is a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It will equip participants with the tools and support needed while positively boosting their confidence and self-esteem to thrive in various spheres of society.

The programme will be a blended approach that will integrate life skills, literacy and numeracy, theory and practical elements into the training sessions.

The event was attended by Acting Prime Minister Hon. Andy Williams, Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Delma Thomas, Attorney General Hon. Claudette Joseph, Minister for Economic Development Hon. Lennox Andrew, Senator Seville Francis, Senator Quinc Britton, and Permanent Secretary Kim Frederick.

The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed guest speaker Annmarie Montrose, who emphasised the need for women to be go-getters. She stated, “The future is not something we wait for; it is something we build together!”

In her remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports emphasised the importance of creating spaces where young women can be nurtured, empowered, and celebrated. “Elevate Her is not about giving a handout; it is about unlocking the power that already exists within our women. It is about ensuring that our girls grow up in a world where leadership, innovation, and education are not just dreams.”

The minister also stressed that “a strong nation cannot exist when half its population is pushed aside to the sidelines. Elevate Her is about national strength, unity and progress.”

The first cohort of 200 participants includes unemployed women across Grenada, who will benefit from hands-on training in the agriculture, health, and hospitality sectors for no more than 18 months.

The Government of Grenada is dedicated to empowering young people through innovation and sustainable development, and its strong focus is on education and skills training. The Elevate Her programme aligns with Vision 75 in realising the full potential of our nation’s citizens.

Am very much in agreement with the above comment. Our boys and
men are in dire need of empowerment, guidance and leadership
skills also, but headed or led by men.

These folks are talking about elevating female at a time when the males need more help than the females.

With the extra help and encouragement given to promoting females who already dominate the labour market, I guess the males will be left to drag their pants and smoke weed, with legalization on the horizon.
