A 2-day workshop on Physical Literacy (PL) will be held in Grenada on Wednesday, 26 and Thursday, 27 February 2025, at the Grenada Youth Cultural and Recreational Centre in Morne Rouge.
An opening session will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, with a presentation on the “Global Impact of Physical Literacy.”
The workshop is organised by the Grenada National Sports Council (NSC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education.
The workshop facilitator Dr Dean Kriellaars is a professor from Canada who has been travelling the world providing education on physical literacy. He is a global leader in physical literacy research, knowledge translation, and application in many sectors, including physical education, sport, recreation, play, design, and the performing arts. He has numerous successful interventions in communities for enhancing physical literacy and, in turn, for fostering physical activity.
Stakeholders from sports associations, clubs, parish sports councils, and the wider community have been invited to the opening session.
The workshop falls within the National Sports Council’s mandate through the National Sports Policy to encourage physical activity in Grenada.
The concepts that would be shared in the workshop are expected to be discussed and reviewed, and a recommendation presented for improving the delivery of physical activity in the school, home, and workplace.
