The Honourable Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Export Development, successfully concluded his visit to Benin, where he represented Grenada at the inaugural Caricom–Benin Foreign Minister’s Meeting.
The discussions in Benin centred on enhancing diplomatic relations, fostering trade and investment opportunities, and exploring avenues for cultural and educational exchange between Caricom and the Republic of Benin.
Minister Andall will join Honourable Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell and the Grenadian delegation in China from 11–17 January 2025. This visit marks the 20th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and Grenada. Over the past 3 decades, China has emerged as a steadfast partner to Grenada, contributing significantly to key sectors of Grenada’s economy, namely agriculture, while initiatives in health and education have provided scholarships, capacity-building programs, and medical resources. Additionally, cultural exchanges have fostered mutual understanding and strengthened goodwill between the 3 nations.
Key highlights of the upcoming visit include high-level discussions with President Xi Jinping, a meeting with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPC, and a welcoming ceremony hosted by Premier Li Qiang. The delegation will also attend a Trade and Export Development Forum to foster trade and investment opportunities and participate in celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Additional discussions will focus on climate resilience, renewable energy, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives to further Grenada’s development goals.
During this landmark visit, several pivotal agreements and MOUs are expected to be signed, all aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, deepening collaboration in the Blue Economy, promoting trade, and advancing initiatives on green development and climate resilience. Key cultural, media, and agricultural exchanges will also be formalised, alongside plans for capacity building and the Silk Road Economic Belt cooperation.
Minister Andall emphasised the significance of this milestone visit, stating, “Grenada’s partnership with China over the past 20 years has been transformative. This visit not only commemorates our shared achievements but also lays the foundation for deeper collaboration to meet the evolving needs of our nation.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development expresses its gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for their unwavering support and commitment to Grenada’s development.
Updates on the visit will be shared through official channels to keep the public informed about this important diplomatic engagement.

I am happy for the connection with Africa and the Caribbean. This is overdue. And every thing should be done to expedite the process.
Come on reps work for we the people.
The travelling roadshow continues while the problems on the island continues to pile up.
Mr. Joe Brown. A sitting duck waits for the predator to come.
Grenada ranks up there with the most vulnerable of nations.
I believe your prime minister is trying to help keep your island safe from what is about to unfold in this world soon….l hope you remember that past colonial powers NEVER helped you….and, can you stand on your own?
Pleased grow up and don’t bump gums like Islanders love to do. Think critically. Please?
Your previous leader helped? Did he?
If he did, why the state of Grenada today after scores of years of power?
