The Fire Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has responded to a fire that broke out at approximately 5:35 am today (20 December) on St John Street in the Town of St George.
Emergency responders were dispatched immediately, and firefighting efforts are currently ongoing. The St George’s University (SGU) Fire Department, volunteer firefighters, Grenlec and Nawasa are currently on the scene.
Initial reports indicate that at least 5 businesses have been affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
The public is advised to avoid the area as much as possible to allow emergency services to operate safely and effectively.
Businesses nearby are advised to:
- Close windows and doors to prevent smoke from entering their buildings
- Follow instructions from emergency personnel
- Monitor official channels, Government Information Service (GIS) and the Royal Grenada Police Force for updates
