On behalf of the Spicemas Corporation, I extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Spicemas 2024 an unforgettable success.

From our valued stakeholders, sponsors and participants to the spectators, each of you contributed to the vibrant energy that makes Spicemas the Caribbean’s premier cultural celebration.

To our stakeholders, your commitment and collaboration have been instrumental in ensuring that every aspect of this year’s festivities was well executed. Your actions have strengthened our festival and showcased Grenada’s rich culture and talent to the world.

To the participants — artistes, musicians, band leaders, masqueraders, costume makers, queen contestants, performers, producers, and support teams — your creativity and passion lit the streets and stages. Your dedication and artistry have left an indelible mark on this year’s Spicemas, and we applaud your outstanding contributions.

To the spectators, thank you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm. Your presence, whether in person or virtually, amplified the spirit of Spicemas and helped create memories that will last a lifetime.

To the sponsors, special thanks to you for your contribution in cash and kind. You assisted in making Spicemas 2024 a success.

Lastly, we express our warmest congratulations to all the winners across every competition. Your hard work and exceptional performances have earned you well-deserved recognition, and we celebrate your success alongside you.

Despite the challenges experienced — and yes, they were challenges beyond our control — Spicemas remains “the best mas by far.” As we build on our successes and commit to improving the product, we thank each of you who made it possible for us to achieve a successful Spicemas 2024. We look forward to continuing this journey with you as we prepare for another incredible celebration from 1–12 August 2025.

Thank you!

Cecil Noel

A biased or vested interest example of “exemplary” self-promotion?

Of course, it would have been more valuable to carry out a survey of Grenadians about what they thought about Spicemas. How well was it organized and run? Who benefitted and who lost? What were the things that were done well, not so well and badly? What needs to be improved and how should those improvements be made and monitored?

Every year, Spicemas “will be better”. But every year there are glaring deficiencies that are repeated and not corrected. These include 1. Late and long jouvay, 2. Late starting and very long carnival shows and 3. Disorganized and very late parades on Monday and Tuesday.

These unprofessional performance practices can only be “fixed” if there are clear standards, incentives and penalties used for Spicemas stakeholders and participants to adhere to. Without the operationalization of such a system, Spicemas will continue its substandard run of disorganized and poorly managed events – all of which are embarassing representations of our leading cultural event.
