Icon Leadership Seminar & Coaching Services (ILSCS) invites HR professionals to a pivotal virtual seminar aimed at addressing and mitigating toxic workplace cultures.

  • Date: Thursday, 25 July 2024
  • Time: 10:30 am – 12 pm
  • Platform: Zoom (pre-registration is required)

Behaviours contributing to a toxic work environment include but are not limited to mobbing, tampering with personal items, gatekeeping, spreading false information, throwing words, resource manipulation, and exclusion. Ms Roslyn A Douglas, who holds a Master’s Degree in Communication and Culture with an emphasis on Organisational Communication, emphasises vigilance in addressing these issues, “HR managers must take decisive action to protect the company’s best interests; ignoring this concern could damage the company’s image and reputation and potentially lead to costly lawsuits.”

Speakers for the event include:

  • Dr Trevor Stephen: An expert in organisational leadership and mental health, will discuss “The Root of Toxicity and Its Impact”
  • Dr Francis Martin: An expert in general medicine and public health, will address “Stress & Your Health”
  • Ms Roslyn A Douglas: A versatile professional with expertise in organisational communication, coaching, and event planning, presenting “A Tool Kit for HR Managers”

While the speakers will provide insights based on their areas of expertise, Ms Douglas highlights the seminar’s broader goal: “Just as companies invest in safety compliance, the time is now to start putting things in place to prioritise their staff’s wellness because studies show the stress caused by workplace toxicity affects the mind and body of those on the receiving end.”

Key takeaways include:

  • A comprehensive presentation template for management teams
  • A draft “Anti-Office Bullying Commitment” for employees
  • Reproducible resources for HR departments
