Work has officially commenced on installing night landing facilities at Carriacou’s Lauriston Airport, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the airport’s capabilities.
The work includes putting in obstruction lights that will facilitate safe and efficient aircraft landing at night.
Other upgrades, including pavement retrofitting, will improve the airport’s operational capacity, ensuring it meets international standards and better serves the needs of travellers and the local community.
The airport project fulfills a promise made by Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell who also is Minister of Infrastructure and Physical Development, Public Utilities, Civil Aviation, and Transportation.
The work is being spearheaded by a dedicated team that includes representatives from the Grenada Airports Authority, the Grenada Bureau of Standards and other key stakeholders.
Project Engineer Aluko Dublin has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work, saying he anticipates the completion to be a smooth and timely one. “I am pleased with the progress we are making and look forward to the successful completion of this project, which will greatly benefit Lauriston Airport and its users.”
