Grenadian photographer, cinematographer, entrepreneur, musician and artist Arthur Daniel will represent Grenada in the Grenada Pavilion at the prestigious La Biennale d’Arte di Venezia in Italy, presenting a compelling body of work shaped by a lifelong curiosity about his homeland and the wider world.

Daniel’s visual practice is rooted in childhood experiences—early walks into the bush with his father that sparked a lasting connection to nature and exploration. This foundation continues to inform his work today, evident in his striking images of Grenada’s wildlife, including the Mona monkey and the endangered Grenada Dove, and stunning images of carnival and drag racing. His landscapes and sweeping views capture both the beauty and spirit of the island, reflecting a deep love for home.

A Management Information Sciences graduate from St George’s University (SGU), Daniel has worked in PR with True Blue Bay. Since taking up a camera in 2010, his photography has been widely recognised, appearing in international magazines and utilised by the Grenada Tourism Authority. Known for his distinctive eye, Daniel seeks out perspectives beyond the ordinary, capturing moments and angles that reveal new ways of seeing familiar places.

Daniel’s journey into sailing photography began with coverage of the Workboat Regatta and Grenada Sailing Week. He has since collaborated with the Royal Ocean Racing Club media team to capture the Caribbean 600 in Antigua, with his work featured in leading yachting magazines and online publications.

Most recently exhibited at Carifesta 2025, Daniel now looks ahead to Venice with enthusiasm, excited to show his images of Grenada to the world on one of the most significant platforms in contemporary art. He said, “I am starting to learn more about this creative space” and looks forward to Venice. He has contributed to previous Grenada pavilions, including a video interview with his sister, Dr Jody Daniel, an environmental scientist speaking about sargassum.

Yesterday, Daniel and his team of Renel Parkes (camera and drone) and Andre Hayes (audio) began creating the first part of a video showcasing Grenadian-born independent artist Jeverson Ramirez, playing steelpan on an authentic hand-built Petite Martinique Sloop Savvy, moored just off the Carenage, and ably handled by Danny Donelan and Brian Samuel. The second part will be shot in Venice, Italy, with Ramirez playing steelpan in a sandolo traditional boat in a Venetian canal.

Part research, part art, Daniel’s approach is to relax, be open to daily inspiration and tell stories that resonate with the human spirit. Daniel’s video, plus his images from Grenada and Venice, will draw attention to the Grenada Pavilion and bring other elements of Grenadian culture to world audiences.
