Grenada will take its place at the 2026 Biennale di Venezia, one of the most influential cultural platforms in the world for visual art.
It brings the dynamism of Caribbean creativity to an international audience of nearly one million visitors over 9 months.
The Grenada Pavilion represents more than national participation. It is a strategic cultural initiative with regional and global impact, designed to strengthen the Caribbean’s creative economy, expand international visibility, and foster cross-border collaboration.
At a time when cultural identity, climate resilience, and global equity dominate international discourse, Grenada’s voice is essential. The pavilion will present contemporary artistic practices rooted in the lived realities of small island nations while engaging urgent global conversations.
This matters regionally because it situates Grenada as welcoming Caricom and OECS integration. It expands economic opportunity within the regional creative sector as well as building pathways for young Caribbean creatives to access global networks. Potentially, it will strengthen international partnerships in education, tourism, and innovation.
This matters globally because it engages the international network that has been building since Grenada’s first pavilion in 2015. It elevates Caribbean perspectives in a global discourse and creates diplomatic and economic bridges beyond traditional trade channels.
The Grenada Pavilion will be at Spazio Berlendis, with “a reflective mode of cross-cultural dialogue, titled The Poetics of Correspondence.” Artists in the Grenada Pavilion include Arthur Daniel, Lilo Nido and Chris Mast, Edward Bowen, Russel Watson, Josine Dupont, Alexandra Kordas, and The Holzwege Group.
Besides the Grenada Pavilion, The Bahamas will host a pavilion — their first since 2013. Additionally, these Caribbean artists have been named by curators to appear in the Arsenale, the main hall of the Biennale. It is a substantial list.
- Álvaro Barrington: Venezuelan Grenadian/Haitian artist based in London
- Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons: Cuban-born artist, in collaboration with Kamaal Malak
- Carolina Caycedo: UK-born Colombian artist. Currently (2025–2026) an artist-in-residence at Para La Naturaleza in Puerto Rico
- Annalee Davis: Barbadian artist focusing on post-plantation economies
- Edouard Duval-Carrié: Haitian artist based in Miami
- Sofía Gallisá Muriente: Puerto Rican visual artista and filmmaker
- Natalia Lassalle-Morillo: Puerto Rican theatre artist, filmmaker, performer and visual artist, in collaboration with her mother Gloria Morillo
- Daniel Lind-Ramos: Puerto Rican artist known for large-scale assemblages
- Lugar a dudas: An art school/centre/collective, led by Oscar Muñoz, and based in Cali, Colombia
- Manuel Mathieu: Haitian-born painter
- Ebony G. Patterson: Jamaican artist
- Tabita Rezaire: French-Guianese artist
Going forward with this 9th appearance, the Grenada Pavilion invites corporate partners who recognise the power of culture as a driver of economic growth, brand distinction, and international influence. Supporting the Grenada Pavilion is a strategic partnership in global visibility and regional transformation. This is not a start-up; it is well-documented with proven partnerships.
This is an expensive proposition. We need to cover exhibition production, venue rental and build-out, international shipping and logistics, communications and PR, educational and regional programming, staffing and operations. And of course, travel and accommodations for the artists and support team need to be provided. Everyone involved works as a volunteer, not a paid consultant.
Our request is urgent, now is the time when the expenses come due. The opening is 9 May. The sponsors’ names will be included in the catalogue and promotional material in the pavilion for the 7 months of the exhibit. The archives will carry the sponsors’ names for history.
Together, we can position Grenada and the Caribbean as creative leaders on the world stage.
